Leslie Ludy has written a new book, “Set Apart Femininity”.  Click to read an adapted chapter excerpt.  I think you’ll find it both challenging and inspiring!

Personal Note regarding the following quote from this article:

“As I allowed God’s Word to speak to my heart, I realized that asking that question would not lead to the stuffy, legalistic, no-fun version of Christianity I was so turned-off by.”

This sentence troubled me.

While having a Pharisaichal spirit is definitely not part of Jesus’ definition of a set apart life, what appears to some to be “stuffy, legalistic, and a n0-fun version of Christianity”,  might possibly be simply living out personal convictions that make others uncomfortable.

I agree some people have a no-fun attitude towards living for Christ because they are doing what they are doing because they feel they have to, rather than doing it for the right reasons and thus experiencing joy in a life poured out to Christ.  I believe this is what turns people off.  I believe that, coupled with living out personal convictions or decisions made to live, dress, and behave in certain ways that greatly conflict with the surrounding culture, our lives should be spilling over with joy because we are in a love relationship with our King!

God’s ways (be they the kind of conversations we engage in, the dress code we abide by, the places we choose to go, the biblical moral laws we live by) are intended for our highest good and pleasure.  What a reason to rejoice!

TenPs in a pod

Once again, Behemoth is offering a free download, this time of an entire audiobook.  Of the Entrepreceurial Boot Camp messages I’ve listened to, Arnold Pent III is one of my favorite speakers.  He and his son are the authors of Ten P’s in a Pod, and Mr. Pent himself is the reader.

Just go to www.behemoth.com, set up an account (if needed), log in, locate the book, Ten P’s In a Pod located under Top Audio Books, click on it, and add it to your cart.  It will tell you then that it’s free (it’s not advertised on the home page).

I have now finished downloading and burning a complete set of CDs of the Entrepreneurial Boot Camp.  I have really enjoyed the things I have heard so far!  I believe whether or not you are planning to start your own business, you will benefit from listening to the personal stories and admonitions of the speakers as they share their own experiences.  I really appreciate the biblical basis for everything and each speaker’s dependence on God to bless their efforts vs. being self-willed and self-centered.

Although this free download offer was of a complete set of audio productions, www.behemoth.com has different single messages offered as free downloads offered every day on their site.

I have not heard this audio download but am familiar with Vision Forum’s mindset and appreciate much of what they present.  I am sure I would not agree with 100% of everything presented on this download but I am also sure it has some good things to offer.

How many times must I prove how much I love you?

How many ways must my love for you I show?

How many times must I rescue you from trouble,

for you to know just how much I love you?

How many days must I build a fence around you?

How many nights must I wipe your tears away?

How many storms must I bring you safely through,

so you would know just how much I love you?

Didn’t I wake you up this morning, clothed in your right mind?

When you walked up on a problem, didn’t I step right in on time?

Weak along life’s journey, My angel carried you….

So you would know just how much I love you.

Didn’t I put food on your table, show up when the bills were due?

When the pains were wracking your body,

Didn’t I send healing down to you?

Lost in sin and sorrow, I died to set you free…

So you would know just how much I love you.

Whew!!!  Talk about feeling the Lord listening to this song sung by the Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir.  Alexis and I just praised the Lord together as I listened to this song this morning.  What a reminder that God loves me all the time!

(You can hear this song by clicking on the playlist “popout player” at the bottom of my sidebar and clicking on song 21.)

ice storm 2009

28Jan09

I hope all of you who are affected by this storm are alright.  Hardly anyone has power, including us.  Thankfully, my father had invested in a generator which is keeping us warm and with limited power.  We are so thankful to God for keeping us safe thus far!  We hope and pray you all are staying safe and warm.

This has been quite an experience!  Outside, it sounded like a war zone last night with limbs and trees breaking and falling every 5-10 seconds or so, sounding like gunshots.  We wondered if there would be any trees left this morning!  At times it sounded as if they would fall right onto the house.  One tree did fall against the back corner of our house but I’m not sure it did much damage.  Another limb badly dented my parents’ car trunk lid.

“19,600 out of 22,500 of Paducah Power’s customers remain without power. That is because 6 of their 9 substations are down.  They also have several of their transmission lines down. Bottom line, they cannot guarantee when they will able to get power restored.” (as of last night)

Here are a few pictures for those of you who don’t have the same views from your windows!
