“This goodness of God is evidenced in the daily victory of light over darkness…”

“Most Christians have an abundance of material blessings for which to thank the Lord. Even if they have none of these, however, God has crowned the year with goodness and favor, with lovingkindness and tender mercies, with grace and glory and honor and, best of all, with His own presence.”

“Bless the LORD, O my soul, and forget not all His benefits” (Psalm 103:2).

All the glory

My thoughts are turned to the greatness and loving kindness of my Heavenly Father.  When I contemplate His mighty power and His gentle care for me – it is amazing.

Science has revealed some stunning photos of places I only hope to maybe see in eternity! 🙂

A few Scripture passages to complement the account of Creation in Genesis 1-2…

Psalm 104

Job 22:12; 26:7; 38:14

Isaiah 40

If ever I am tempted with pride, all I need do is consider the work of His hand to know that ALL the GLORY belongs to HIM!

May God crown the new year with blessings and goodness which flow only from His hand!

Meira Raye

“God has graciously given our family a little sparkling jewel, Meira Raye, from whom we pray will emanate light – a light that will guide others to the True Light, Jesus Christ.  May the light in her eyes rejoice the hearts of all around her and may she be a glorious reflection of her Savior as she glows with brightness and cheerfulness, exhibiting the joy found only in Jesus.”

Her name, Meira, comes from a Hebrew word for light, brightness, and cheerfulness…used in the Bible in these references {Geneis 1:14-16, Proverbs 15:30}

These verses are not from Meira’s name but I used them in the blessing I wrote for her because they seem to go well with the meaning of her name and I think they are wonderful.

  • Malachi 3:16-17 – (Not about light…just the jewel, which sparkles kind of like a light 🙂 Then they that feared the LORD spake often one to another: and the LORD hearkened, and heard it, and a book of remembrance was written before him for them that feared the LORD, and that thought upon his name.  And they shall be mine, saith the LORD of hosts, in that day when I make up my jewels;
  • John 1:7-9 this “light” is from the Greek and not the Hebrew but is referring to John the Baptist who was a light but not THE light, so we can be like lights that point to the true LIGHT, JESUS!             ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

The words for stars and shine in the following verse in Daniel are not the same word but it just reminds me of the same kind of meaning and it’s such a beautiful verse.  This is the picture I saw on a blog that made me think of it.  Isn’t it pretty?  I also like the verse in Proverbs 15:30 that I mentioned earlier, about the light of the eyes rejoiceth the heart…I guess meaning that when someone has that light in their eyes – that “aliveness” of a clear conscience toward God and man and purity of heart so to speak – that it causes others to be made glad and rejoice in their heart!

Any help on how/why this happened?

no bake cookies {with homemade almond butter}

After trying making almond butter in the vitamix I decided to try making no bake cookies with them…

S0566087

…turned out good!

No Bake Fudgy Oatmeal Cookies {with almond butter}

2 cups sugar {I used 1/2 cup maple syrup}

1/2 cup milk

1/4 lb. butter {I used 1/2 cup coconut oil}

3 T. raw cacao

1/4 tsp. salt

1/2 cup almond butter

3 cups oats

1 tsp. vanilla

Note: They didn’t turn out quite as firm as regular no-bake cookies I’ve had before…could be because I used maple syrup instead of sugar???

Yummy even to eat with a spoon…but firm enough to hold together, too!
